PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization rate of storage areas for respective resources and to shorten a transfer time in the case of transfer from the buffer area of an image (semiconductor) memory for primarily storing input/output images to an HDD for saving compressed data. SOLUTION: A DMA control system is applied and whether or not the storage areas of a transfer destination HDD 48 are to be made continuous or discontinuous and a transfer mode therefor can be selected and set. When saving an image signal inputted and primarily held in an image memory 42 in the HDD, processing is performed in the order of image memory→compressor/ expander 46 (data compression conversion)→image memory (converted data storage area)→HDD. At that point, buffer areas corresponding to the capacity of the transfer destination to be used are secured by one time of transfer operation in each of continuous and discontinuous transfers so that the utilization rate of the resources can be improved, the transfer time can be shortened and productivity in the device provided with such a storage part can be improved.
