PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine which protects a fuel system, while an intake system is disposed such that a smooth intake air flow can be obtained. SOLUTION: In this structure, a surge tank is installed to a cylinder block through a bracket. A cylinder head houses a part of a fuel injection valve injecting fuel into a cylinder. The other part of the fuel injection valve is disposed in a space formed by the surge tank, an intake manifold, the bracket, the cylinder head and the cylinder block, apart from the surge tank, the intake manifold and the bracket. Preferably, the surge tank is installed to the cylinder block through an oil filter bracket. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
