PURPOSE: A method for managing ATM performance information of a switching system using an SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) is provided to filter data according to a performance processing method of an SNMP agent for much performance information, and to report changed information only to a manager system, then to manage previous performance data, thereby reducing load of the manager system. CONSTITUTION: An SNMP agent computer drives a communication channel with communication middleware of a switching system(S01), and drives a communication channel with a manager computer(S02). The SNMP agent computer checks whether a performance information collection setup/cancellation request message is received(S03). If so, the agent computer calls a library of the communication middleware(S04), and performs performance collection setup/cancellation registration(S05). If a complicated performance information request message is received(S07), the computer retrieves an OID(Object ID) value(S08). If the OID value does not exist, the computer extracts the value from history MIB(Management Information Base) data, and calculates the value by integrating performance data(S09). The computer makes a PDU, and transmits the PDU to the manager computer(S10).
