The method is used to drive the clutch (6) in the drive train (1) of a vehicle. When the clutch is engaged, during a synchronization phase, the time differential (dnm/dt) of the rotation rate of a drive shaft (4) is extrapolated as a guide parameter for regulating the clutch. A sensor (28) detects the rotation rate of the shaft. The sensor is connected to a control unit (21) which generates the guide parameter. Independent claims also cover a regulating apparatus.
