PAPER SHEET DISCRIMINATING COUNTER AND DISCRIMINATING COUNTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized compact paper sheet discriminating counter and paper sheet discriminating counting method for performing the discrimination counting processing of paper sheets to be discriminated such as bills in a specified country or district at high speed.

SOLUTION: This paper sheet discriminating counter 10 comprises a hopper 15 to which paper sheets are supplied; a paper sheet carrying device 10 for delivering the supplied paper sheets to a carrying passage 48 and carrying them at high speed along the carrying passage 48; a paper sheet discrimination unit 64 provided in the middle of the carrying passage 48 to discriminate and count the paper sheets; and a stacker 21 for accumulating the paper sheets delivered from the carrying passage 48. The carrying passage has a U-shaped curved carrying passage 48b in the middle and a reject carrying passage 48d extended from a downstream carrying passage 48c continued to the curved carrying passage 48b to a pocket 20.
