<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent local intensification of intensity of light reflected in a reflecting polarization layer while preventing the occurrence of display blurring in a liquid crystal display device provided with the reflecting polarization layer with the shape of prisms having a triangular wave form. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device holds a liquid crystal layer 4 between an upper substrate 3 and a lower substrate 2 which are opposed to each other, and is provided with an upper polarization layer 13 and the lower reflecting polarization layer 6 formed by laminating dielectric interference films at the upper and lower sides of the liquid crystal layer 4. A plurality of paired slope parts having a wedge-shaped cross section are continuously formed on the surface of a substrate having a curved surface on the surface, thereby, the lower reflecting polarization layer 6 has the shape of prisms.
