PURPOSE: A thin film for a wear-resistance tool and a coating member using the thin film are provided to supply a TiBCN film coating over an indexable insert in 0.5 to 20 micrometer with a mesophilic chemical vapor deposition, to make particles of a coated surface fine, and to increase the hardness of the film and the wear-resistance of the indexable insert. CONSTITUTION: A thin film for a surface coating member for an indexable insert or a wear-resistance tool laminates Ti(BxCyNz)(x+y+z=1) on the basic material of the indexable insert or the wear-resistance tool with a hard coated layer by a mesophilic chemical vapor deposition. The BC13 flow of the film is 0.1 to 0.4 vol percent. The thickness of the coated layer is 0.1 to 20.0 micrometer.
