Streptogramin A derivatives (I) are new. Streptogramin A derivatives of formula (I) and their salts are new: R1 = halo, OH, 1-6C alkoxy, N3, SCN or NR'R''; R' = H or Me; R'' = A, OA or NA'A''; A = H, 1-6C alkyl, cycloalkyl, allyl, propynyl or benzyl; A', A'' = Me; or NA'A'' = a 4- or 5-membered ring optionally containing another heteroatom selected from N, O or S; R'1 = H; R2 = halo, 1-6C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 2-6C alkynyl, phenyl, heteroaryl, 1-6C alkylthio, phenylthio or heteroarylthio; R3 = H, Me or Et; and R1+R'1 = oxo. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for preparing compounds (I); (2) polyanions derived from selected compounds (I; R2= H) (15 formulas given); (3) a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound (I) and optionally at least one streptogramin B derivative and/or one or more diluents or adjuvants.
