PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for an optical waveguide resin having high activity (fast polymerizing property and fast curing property) by irradiation of active energy rays and/or heating and easily controllable of the refractive index. SOLUTION: The composition for an optical waveguide resin contains (a) an alicyclic compound having at least one oxetanyl group in the molecule and (b) compound initiating cation polymerization by irradiation of active energy rays and/or heating.
