PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image capturing device, a smear correction method thereof, and a digital still camera that can reduce smear in an image caused when a high-speed electronic shutter is released. SOLUTION: In the solid-state image capturing device 100 comprising pixel arrays 11r, 11g, and 11b arranged in a row direction and a column direction which is orthogonal thereto and a vertical register 12 including a plurality of transfer electrodes in which the signal charges generated by light acceptance of each pixel are read and sequentially transferred in the column direction upon receipt of a transfer pulse, an electrode for generating K (K is an integer of 2 or more) continuous electric potential wells for the signal charges in the vertical register 12 upon receipt of the transfer pulse and an electrode terminal for generating once electric potential well for a smear charge after the K electron potential wells for a signal charge are provided as electrode terminals 101 to 116 for cyclically transmitting the transfer pulse to each of the transfer electrodes. By providing a large number of electrode terminals and applying a transfer pulse for multiphase driving to each of the electrode terminals, it is possible to generate a well dedicated to smear charge transfer.
