摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airplane using hydrogen as fuel by a fuel reforming method. SOLUTION: In the airplane, a gas turbine is mainly driven by jet fuel (light oil) to cause intense air pollution. Depletion of oil resources approaches after a lapse of ten and several years. Accordingly, development and manufacture of the experimental airplane are started by two (German and Russian) companies in cooperation. In the experimental airplane, liquefied hydrogen is stored in each a refrigerated tank 15 of a temperature of -253°C and a withstanding pressure of 1.5 atm. The liquefied hydrogen fuel has a volume 4.2 times the jet fuel. The tank 15 of the withstanding pressure of 1.5 atm cannot be stored in main wings and a center wing. Accordingly, an upper part 14 of a body 9 is expanded, and the cylindrical fuel tanks 15 for liquefied hydrogen and a heat insulation material 16 therefor are stored in the upper part 14. Because a transport/refrigeration apparatus is newly provided, liquefied hydrogen causes a high cost. The experimental airplane is provided with fuel reformers 2 developed for the purpose of supply of hydrogen to a fuel cell of a fuel cell automobile, separates hydrogen of liquefied fuel (mainly light oil, artificial petroleum in the future), and uses the hydrogen as the fuel to drive propfan engines 7, 19.
