A seat component includes a cover around a synthetic foam padding. The cover has a flexible part with an edge (11) welded to a face of a second part. The face and the edge each have synthetic thermoplastic material for forming the weld. An Independent claim is also included for a process for making the seat component comprising: (1) heating the two thermoplastic materials simultaneously to their melting point; and (2) bringing them together.
