PURPOSE: Provided is a biological filtration apparatus for eliminating VOCs, especially volatile organic chlorine compounds such as trichloroethylene with high efficiency using co-metabolism of microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a reactor(70) divided into a plurality of stages which is stacked in order from the bottom and is filled with ceramic chips(71) for removing VOCs by co-metabolism of microorganisms, a plurality of impingers(50) connected to respective stages of the reactor(70) for supplying liquid toluene to the respective stages of the reactor(70) as energy source of microorganisms, a TCE impinger(80) for supplying liquid volatile organic chlorine compound to the selected stage of the reactor, check valves(80) provided to outlets of the toluene impingers(50) and the TCE impinger(80) for preventing backflow of the toluene and the organic chlorine compound, and a mass flow controller(30) and an air pump(10) connected to the respective toluene impinger(50) and the TCE impinger(80) for converting the liquid toluene and the liquid organic chlorine compound to gaseous phase and supplying the gaseous phase of toluene and the organic chlorine compound to the reactor(70) at a constant flow rate.
