PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber line in which increase in bending loss is suppressed without degrading Raman amplification efficiency.
SOLUTION: In an optical system 1, an optical fiber line 130 is installed between stations 110 and 120. Among optical fibers 131 and 132 which constitute of the line 130, the fiber 131 is installed in a first segment which is defined between a position where stimulating light beams for Raman amplification are supplied (a connecting point between the station 110 and the line 130) and a prescribed position on the stimulating light beam transmission path. On the other hand, the fiber 132 is installed in a second segment which is other than the first segment. A cable cutoff wavelength of the fiber 131 in the first segment is made shorter than a stimulating light beam wavelengthλP. Moreover, the cable cutoff wavelength of the fiber 132 in the second segment is made longer than the wavelengthλP and is made shorter than a signal light beam wavelengthλS.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
|
