PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a travel feeling is deteriorated because reduction of an engine speed becomes large in the case of application of a large load during suppression control of an engine speed to cause a state like application of brakes during traveling. SOLUTION: Figure (a) is a comparative example. When performing a start and a stop of the suppression control at the same 'threshold value', a difference d1 between a point P6 and a point P5 corresponds to the reduction of the engine speed. The larger difference d1 corresponds to the application of the more sudden brakes to deteriorate the travel feeling. Figure (b) is embodiment. The start of the suppression control is performed at a first threshold value, and the stop of the suppression control is executed at a second threshold value. The suppression control is completed at a point P14 wherein the engine speed becomes below the second threshold value, and operation is shifted to normal operation. Though a difference d10 between a point 16 and a point 15 corresponds to the reduction of the engine speed, the difference d10 is one part in several to the difference d1 shown in Figure (a) and is sufficiently small. The smaller difference d10 causes a smaller brake feeling during traveling to improve the travel feeling. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
