PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lift gate which can be smoothly opened/closed without causing sharp rotation at arm means and a gate door even if a manual force applied to the gate is larger than one under normal conditions irrespective of the seasons due to elimination of temperature dependence, eliminates jarring noise caused by collision of the arm means, has a long service life, and positively maintains a midway opening of the gate door. SOLUTION: The lift gate 1 is formed of the arm means 81, the gate door 13, an elastic force applying means 31, and a viscous shearing resistance applying means 83. Each arm means 81 has one end thereof rotatably borne by a support 2 in directions A and B in a vertical plane. The gate door 13 is attached to the other end of each arm means 81. The elastic force applying means 31 applies an elastic force in the direction A, to the arm means 81, for resisting the rotation of the arm means 81 in the direction B due to the self weight of the gate 13 and the arm means 81. The viscous shearing resistance applying means 83 applies viscous shearing resistance to the arm means 81 in both the directions A and B, for resisting the rotation of the arm means 81.
