PURPOSE: A plant extract having scavenging activity to peroxynitrite and a pharmaceutical composition containing same as effective ingredient are provided, which show strong eliminating action and production inhibitory activity, so can be used as medicines for Alzheimer's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, atherosclerosis, and an effective ingredient for anti-oxidant. CONSTITUTION: A process for the preparation of plant extract having scavenging activity to peroxynitrite comprises the steps of: preparing dried plants of witch hazel bark, rosemary, jasmine tea, sage whole, slippery elm, black walnut leaf, Queen Anne's lace, Linden flower, allspice, chickweed herb, Cat's claw, spearmint, white pine, Vervain blue, Oregano-Greek, dillweed, Licorice root, agrimony, tumeric, rosehips whole, nutmeg, senna whole, comfrey root, bay leaf, orris root, cumin whole, chamomille, dandelion root; extracting the plants with methanol for 3days at room temperature; concentrating the residue after distilling solvent, and drying; dissolving the dried product in 10% ethanol solution to get the objective stock solution. The pharmaceutical composition contains the plant extract in the content of 10-100mg/kg.
