<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable retrieval by inputting a retrieval key with a notation preferable for a user even without knowing the notation reference of the retrieval key concerning a foreign language dictionary retrieving device for retrieving a foreign language dictionary with the Japanese-like phonogram of a foreign word such as square forms of KANA as the retrieval key. <P>SOLUTION: When generating a foreign language dictionary, source data of the foreign language dictionary containing a foreign word and a phonetic symbol corresponding to the pronunciation of that foreign word are inputted, a correspondent Japanese-like phonogram is generated from the inputted phonetic symbol, the generated Japanese-like phonogram is registered in a storage part 3 as a retrieval key together with the source data as a dictionary database. In retrieving, the Japanese-like phonogram is inputted from a retrieval key input part 4 as a retrieval key, and the word is retrieved from the electronic foreign language dictionary database in the storage part 3 according to the inputted Japanese-like phonogram. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
