PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for electric components which can adapt to narrowing pitch of electric component terminals. SOLUTION: With an IC socket 11 as 'a socket for electric components' in which a plurality of contact pins 15 in contact with a soldering ball 12b of an IC package 12 as an electric component terminal are arranged adjacent to each other on a socket main body housing the IC package 12 as 'an electric component' and, at the same time, a moving member 17 for elastically deforming the contact pins 15 is arranged in free movement, and further, an operating member 21 for moving the moving member 17 is arranged in free movement up and down, the contact pins 15 are provided with a pair of elastic pieces 15a, 15b each, at least either of which is elastically deformed by the moving member 17 to get in and out of contact with the soldering ball 12b, so that, when the elastic pieces 15a, 15b are elastically deformed to get separated from the soldering ball, they are so structured to come across adjacent contact pins 15a, 15b without getting in contact with each other.
