A communication device and method for controlling a device of the party by transmitting a predetermined command without directly operating the device of the party. At step S6, a PDA transmits command data on start of the Bluetooth function described in the XML format to a personal computer through a reader/writer. At steps S24, S25, the reader/writer receives command data transmitted from the PDA and requests the personal computer to start the Bluetooth function. At steps S42, S43, the personal computer starts the Bluetooth communication function in response to the request of the reader/writer. The invention can be applied to a wireless communication device.
