PURPOSE: A system for registering and recognizing an iris is provided to collect and register iris information of various classes when the original iris is registered and to increase a recognition rate when an iris is recognized by mounting an illumination unit capable of adjusting a brightness of a luminous light. CONSTITUTION: A storage(10) registers and stores a plurality of iris information classified into at least one class in accordance with a radius of a pupil as the original iris information according to classes with respect to each user. A distance sensor unit(20) recognizes an object being accessed to a predetermined position. An image input unit(30) obtains an image of an iris. A function setting unit(40) includes a registration key for judging whether an iris image being inputted through the image input unit(30) is registered as the original image. In the case that an object is accessed to a set position by the distance sensor unit(20), a control unit(50) outputs an illumination operation control signal, classifies an iris image being obtained through the image input unit(30) into at least one class in accordance with a key input state of the function setting unit(40), and registers or stores in the storage(10). The control unit(50) compares an iris image being obtained through the image input unit(30) with an iris image which is stored in the storage(10), and checks an identity of each user. An illumination unit(60) emits a light by responding to the illumination operation control signal.
