A tuneable optical filter is used to select a given channel of data from a DWDM multiplex. The data is encoded on the channel using forward error correction. The filter is set to a prestored position for the channel selected and the bit error rate measured at that position. The tuning is then dithered about the original position and the error rate measured at each setting. The filter is set at the position where the BER is at a minimum to optimise the tuning.
|
