In order to operate a communications network (KN) that comprises at least on e network management system (NMS) and a plurality of network components (NE1, NE2, NE3, EM), management data (MD) are exchanged between the at least one network management system (NMS) and at least one network component (NE1, NE2 , NE3, EM) via a communications infrastructure (WSIS) that is provided by a we b service (WS), thereby creating open interfaces between the network component s (NE1, NE2, NE3, EM) and the at least one network management system (NMS). Vi a these interfaces, a flexibly enlargeable, reliable and producer-independent management of a communications network (KN), comprising inter alia also different network management systems (NMS), is facilitated.
