The seat has a backrest containing a structural part (1), which is fastened adjustable to a backrest frame (2). When impact forces generated during a rear collision are transmitted by the user of the seat onto the backrest, the structural part moves relative to the frame, and is supported on it via a shock absorber (11). The structural part is fastened to the frame pivoted about a horizontal axis (3) positioned approx. halfway up the backrest. Impact forces are introduced into an upper section (9) of the structural part, while a lower section (10) is supported on the frame.
