A point-to-point wiring is provided between the central control unit and the distributed control units. The central control unit causes selected local control units to be activated or deactivated using a command or data set. The deactivation command or the activation command is effective for a group of local control units or for all control units. The command may be via an SPI interface and a two-wire interface. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for activating or deactivating distributed control units.
