PURPOSE: A file system of a storage medium and a method for storing data at the storage medium are provided to increase the access efficiency of a hard disk and prevent waste of a storage space of the hard disk. CONSTITUTION: When a user requests to store data, a control unit(250) judges whether a file to be stored is a stream file or a management file. In the case of the stream file, the control unit stores data of the stream file at a stream file data area of a hard disk(220) by cluster units of the stream file preliminarily set. In the case of the management file, the control units stores data of the management file at a management file data area of the hard disk by cluster units of the management file preliminarily set. Information related to a stream file FAT(File Allocation Table) and a management file FAT are recorded at a stream file FAT area and a management file FAT area of a buffer memory(210) respectively. Changed items, such as directory, file size, file name, and attributes are recorded at a directory entry area of the memory managed in common.
