The antenna element includes an elongate strip of sheet material that has, over its area, a uniform electrical resistivity. The width of the strip is varied along its length in order to provide a desired resistive loading of the antenna element. The resistively loaded antenna element (1) includes an elongate strip of material having a uniform electrical resistance over its area. The width of the strip is varied over its length to provide a desired resistive profile. The strip may comprise a synthetic plastics substrate having a coating of electrically resistive material. Independent claims are included for an antenna array.
