METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING HANGUL CHARACTER

PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a Hangul character is provided to classify a Hangul character image in a document image as one pattern out of many combination patterns according to combined phonemes of the Hangul, divide a character into combined phonemes or elements having combined phonemes, and recognize the character. CONSTITUTION: A Hangul character image in the document image is classified into one pattern out of many combination patterns classified according to a combination of combined phonemes of the Hangul(S20). The character is divided into combined phonemes or elements having combined phonemes in accordance with the classified pattern(S30). Each divided element is recognized(S40). The elements are recognized again based on a recognition pattern, and the character is recognized finally(S50).
