PURPOSE: An ultra-fine inorganic fiber is provided with a higher surface area per volume to be well adapted for the use as a reinforcing material or a coating material in all kinds of industrial fields. CONSTITUTION: In a method of fabricating an ultra-fine inorganic fiber, the sol or gel containing inorganic material is mixed with thermoplastic resin solution to make a mixture solution. The mixture solution is electro-spun under the application of a higher voltage to make a conjugate fiber where the thermoplastic resin surrounds the inorganic material. The thermoplastic resin in the conjugate fiber is eluted by carbonization or applying a solvent thereto. The diameter of the inorganic fiber is in the range of 10-1000nm. The voltage with the electro-spinning is established to be 5kV or more. The inorganic material is silica, ceramic, or alumina. The thermoplastic resin is polyvinyl alcohol, poly lactic acid, polyimide, polyester, or polypropylene.
