PURPOSE: A method for identifying a defected stand is provided to improve productivity in a continuous rolling process by rapidly exchanging a roll of a defected stand with new one. CONSTITUTION: A hot rolled steel sheet fabricated through a hot rolling process by using a finish roll mill having a plurality of rollers is detected and process information of the hot rolled steel sheet is activated(S10). Then, it is determined whether or not a roll mark is formed in the hot rolled steel sheet(S14). Then, a periodical roll mark length is calculated in order to determine whether or not the roll mark is periodically formed(S18). If the roll mark is periodically formed, a calculated period length is compared with a predetermined period length, thereby obtaining a stand number causing the roll mark. The stand number is displayed(S20).
