PURPOSE: A back light unit for a display device is provided to supply current to a light source for a predetermined period of time even when a control signal is not output to maintain a light-emitting state of a back light. CONSTITUTION: A back light unit includes a light source, a driver, and a controller. The light source emits a predetermined quantity of light. The driver operates the light source. The controller operates the driver according to a light source control signal applied from the outside to supply current to the light source. The driver provides a specific quantity of current to the light source even when the light source control signal is not output from the control signal to maintain the light-emitting state of the light source for a predetermined period of time.
