PURPOSE: A dual stage inflator of an airbag is provided to prevent injury of a human body due to high pressure expansion and to change performance of the inflator and tune the inflator easily by supplying gas slowly generated from high pressure expansion in the inflator without reducing an operation of the airbag. CONSTITUTION: An inflator(30) includes first and second chambers(32,34) storing propellants and having holes on surfaces. First and second squibs(44a,44b) are arranged between first and second chambers to ignite igniting agents(42a,42b) to burn propellants(40a,40b) stored in first and second chambers respectively. An outer shell body(32b) covers an outer peripheral surface of first and second chambers and has a far outer vent hole(38) on one side. A vent hole is installed between the outer shell body and an inner shell body(32a) to delay gas moved from the first chamber to the second chamber. Thereby, injury of a human body due to high pressure expansion is prevented, and changing performance of the inflator and tuning are easy by delaying gas pressure without reducing an operation of an airbag. |
