PURPOSE: A compression part of a hermetic compressor is provided to minimize the lateral pressure between a piston and a compression chamber. CONSTITUTION: A compression part of a hermetic compressor includes a cylinder block(20) forming a compression chamber(22); a piston(30) having a slant face(31); and a valve assembly(50) installed to the front of the cylinder block, to control the inflow and outflow of an actuating fluid. The tip of the piston is formed as the slant surface and the predetermined moment is formed by receiving the pressure of the inside of the compression chamber. The moment compensates the moment produced to the piston in a compression stroke, through eccentric rotation of an eccentric pin(42) of a crankshaft. The dead volume of the compression chamber is minimized if the slant surface of the piston and the valve assembly are installed at stated intervals. Thus, lateral pressure is not produced to the piston and exact rectilinear reciprocation is performed inside the compression chamber. Accordingly, wear of the side of the piston or the inner wall of the corresponding compression chamber is prevented and the durability and reliability in action are improved.
