PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting a pilot channel signal with a low signal-to-noise ratio are provided to obtain a pilot channel signal with a low transmission power level and obtain the greater wireless network capacity by reducing the interference from a pilot pollution generated by adjacent cells due to low power. CONSTITUTION: A receiving path includes an ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter) sampler(305), a memory unit(310), a reference clock(315), a controller(320), a sample extracting unit(330), a determining circuit(360) and matching filters(340,350). The matching filter(340) includes a despreading mixer(341) and an integrator(343). The despreading mixer(341) receives a PN code(342) and a pseudo-signal with an offset M-1. The matching filter(350) includes a despreading mixer(351) and an integrator(353). The ADC sampler(305) receives a set of selected native signals, and generates plural pilot signals which are formed as the native signal samples are time-transited. The plural pilot signals are filtered by the matching filters and analyzed by the determining circuit(360). The determining circuit(360) is used to generate one or more pseudo-signals which are formed as the native signal samples are time-transited. The pseudo-signal sets are filtered by the matching filters and combined with the filtered native samples. The coupled samples are repeatedly checked by the determining circuit(360) until the pilot channel signal is detected.
