PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing state information in a portable phone terminal is provided to simply transmit and receive state information between portable phone terminals without an additional base station server equipment or the agreement of a service by adding a unique code to a message and analyzing the unique code so that it is possible for knowing a current state of a user. CONSTITUTION: If a telephone call process is started, a signal generating unit(102) generates a state request signal for confirming the state of a reception side. If call is received from a transmission side, the signal generating unit(102) detects whether the state request signal exists, and generates a state acknowledgement signal of a portable phone terminal in case that state acknowledgement information is set up. A signal analyzing unit(104) analyzes a signal provided from an object-side portable phone terminal through a base station, and judges whether the state request signal or the state acknowledgement signal exists. If the state request signal exists, the signal analyzing unit(104) provides the state acknowledgement signal to the signal generating unit(102). If the state acknowledgement signal exists, the signal analyzing unit(104) analyzes the state acknowledgement signal, and outputs state information. A judgement and process unit(108) judges whether it is possible for speaking with a recipient of the reception-side portable phone terminal, grasps the state of the reception side according to state information provided from the signal analyzing unit(104), and generates a processing signal according to the grasped result.
