An apparatus that produces Ionizing radiation, comprises a pipe with optical components inside. The outside of the pipe has a hardened epoxy resin mixture coating, which contains a heavy metal. The resin mixture forms a single unit with the pipe. The heavy metal is lead and the pipe is made of steel.
