<p>A golf club shaft (25) includes a shaft body (27) made of a composite material, such as carbon/epoxy, and a metal foil (30) wrapped in a spiral pattern around at least a portion of the shaft body (27). The metal foil (30) increases the torsional stiffness of the shaft and improves its bending stiffness, thereby enabling the first and second frequencies of a golf club (40) employing the shaft (25) to remain in the desired range. Optionally the metal foil may be steel, stainless steel, steel alloys, titanium, titanium alloys or tin.</p> |
