PURPOSE: A uniform tension remaining apparatus for a timing chain is provided to improve the durability of the timing chain, and to reduce noise in engaging the chain with the sprocket by keeping tension constant with applying external force for offsetting tension of the timing belt through a cam and a valve spring. CONSTITUTION: A uniform tension remaining device of a timing chain comprises a balance shaft cap(9) fixed in a cylinder head between intake and exhaust camshafts; a balance shaft(10) rotated and supported by the balance shaft cap, and extended over the timing chain; a balance pulley(12) turned and contacted to the upper part of the timing chain, and fixed in the balance shaft; a balance shaft driving gear(13) installed in the balance shaft to rotate the balance shaft; and a main gear(14) engaged with the balance shaft driving gear, turned and installed in the camshaft. Pressure is released on the upper part of the timing chain in increasing tension of the chain by opening the valve, and tension is applied in relaxing the timing chain by closing the valve with installing the balance pulley between camshafts. Vibration and noise are reduced, and the durability of the timing chain is improved by keeping tension constant.
