PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to improve poor images displayed on the liquid crystal display and prevent the liquid crystal display from being abnormally operated due to an additional pixel electrode. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display includes the first substrate having a display area(5) and a periphery area surrounding the display area, a plurality of data lines(66) formed on the first substrate in one direction, and a plurality of gate lines(22) formed on the first substrate, intersecting the data lines. The liquid crystal display further includes an additional pixel electrode(82) connected to a gate line and formed in the periphery of the first substrate, an additional data line(63) connected to the additional pixel electrode, the second substrate opposite to the first substrate, and a black matrix formed on the second substrate to cover the portion where the additional pixel electrode is located. A signal provided to the additional data line is synchronized with a signal supplied to the data lines.
