PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for matching data of differential physical layers are provided to reduce a manufacturing cost and minimize troubles of hardwares by removing external FIFOs and components related thereto. CONSTITUTION: A transmission FIFO(31) and a reception FIFO(32) are installed between the first physical layer and the second physical layer in order to match and exchange data. The first physical layer matching portion(40A) receives the data from the first physical layer and records the received data to the transmission FIFO or transmits the data stored in the reception FIFO to the first physical layer. The second physical layer matching portion(40B) converts the data of the transmission FIFO to the data bit units of the second physical layer and transmits the converted data to the second physical layer or converts the data of the second physical layer to the data bit units of the first physical layer and transmits the converted data to the first physical layer.
