PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating a power-up signal is provided to stabilize operations of a memory device by activating a power-up signal for initialization after an external supply voltage is stabilized. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for generating a power-up signal includes a level sense portion(300), a pulse generation portion(310), a delay portion(320), and a power-up signal generation portion(330). The level sense portion receives an external supply voltage and outputs a level sense signal according to a level of the received external supply voltage. The pulse generation portion receives the level sense signal and generates a pulse for generating a power-up signal. The delay portion receives an output of the pulse generation portion, delays the received output of the pulse generation portion during a predetermined time, and outputs the delayed output of the pulse generation portion. The power-up signal generation portion receives the level sense signal and an output signal of the delay portion and generates the power-up signal.
