PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for transferring a substrate of a liquid crystal display are provided to decrease process cost and time by using the existing cassette. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for transferring a substrate of a liquid crystal display includes a port(400), a loader stage, a cassette, a clamp, and an auxiliary substrate support bar(410). The loader stage is located on the port. The cassette accommodates substrates mounted on the loader stage. The clamp fixes the cassette. The auxiliary substrate support bar is mounted on the loader stage and located in the cassette. The clamp is composed of a cylinder for moving the clamp forward and backward, and a side roller for reducing friction of the cassette when the clamp moves forward.
