PURPOSE: A sensing system having optical fiber is provided to measure a physical deformation of a predetermined spot where sensing optical fiber is installed by utilizing reflection light applied to sensing optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A sensing system includes sensing optical fiber(10), a light generating section(20), a light receiving section(30) and a plurality of couplers(41,42,43). Sensing optical fiber(10) has a sensor front end(11), a sensor section(12) and a sensor rear end(13). The light generating section(20) generates light applied to sensing optical fiber(10). The light receiving section(30) receives reflection light incident through sensing optical fiber(10)and compares reflection light with reference light incident from the couplers(41,42,43) in order to determine whether or not physical deformation is created in a structure. The first coupler(41) branches light generated from the light generating section(20) and transmits part of light into the second and third couplers(42,43).
