<p>PURPOSE: A method for preparing a ketone having at least six carbon atoms and a polysulfonated ion exchange resin catalyst composition are provided, to improve the yield and the selectivity to a desired saturated ketone adduct. CONSTITUTION: The polysulfonated ion exchange resin catalyst composition comprises 1-85 % of a polymerization crosslinking unit based on the dry weight of an ion exchange resin; 5.0-7.0 milliequivalents of a sulfonic acid group per 1 g based on the dry weight of an ion exchange resin; and 0.1-2 % of at least one metal ion selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, iridium, rhodium, ruthenium, osmium, copper, nickel and zirconium, based on the dry weight of an ion exchange resin and dispersed. The method comprises the step of contacting a ketone reagent with hydrogen in the presence of the polysulfonated ion exchange resin catalyst composition.</p> |
