APPARATUS FOR LIMITING SHEATH CURRENT OF UNDERGROUND CABLE

PURPOSE: An apparatus for limiting a sheath current of an underground cable is provided to increase the transmission capacity of a power cable by limiting the sheath current circulating a metal sheath of the power cable through a surge limiting device under a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION: Three-phase power cable conductors(11) are arranged in parallel. A sheath current limiting device(1) is installed on a cross bonding lead line(3) in a serial structure and comprised of an impedance or current limiting filter. The cross bonding lead line(3) connects a metal sheath(12) provided on each of the three-phase power cable conductors(11), for limiting a sheath current circulating the metal sheath(12) under a predetermined level. A cross bonding terminal is formed on a location near a positive electrode of the sheath current limiting device(1) at the cross bonding lead line(3).
