Power system expansion planning

In the inventive method and computer program for power system expansion planning, an optimal selection of a plurality of power network components constituting a network is determined by an optimisation procedure that minimises an objective function comprising investment costs for network components subject to operational constraints, operational costs are expressed by a monetary value computed from power losses incurred during operation of the network, and the objective function comprises said operational costs.
