PURPOSE: A receiving apparatus for a base station and a receiving method therefor are provided to minimize the degradation of performance generated when one receiving path is damaged among a plurality of receiving paths by composing switches and a control unit in a plurality of receiving paths. CONSTITUTION: Front-end filter units(13-1,13-2) pass only uniform frequency bands of signals received from antennas(11,12) and amplify the passed signals. A control unit(18) outputs a control signal for selecting paths of the signals outputted from the front-end filter units(13-1,13-2). The first and second switches(16,17) receive the control signal of the control unit(18), and switch the output signals of the front-end filter units(13-1,13-2). Down-converter units(14-1,14-2) down-convert the frequencies of the signals inputted through the first and second switches(16,17), and output the down-converted signals. A modem(15) demodulates the outputs of the down-converter units(14-1,14-2).
