The holding device has holding arms (5) which can be displaced by a motor. The setting drive is controlled to seat at least one bottom part of the holder and to rotate the container (6) inside the holder. A pulse producer produces pulses for the holding arm setting drive (13) and for turning the container. This enables the setting drive to be switched inside the holder deliberately and unambiguously.
