<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise at the time of driving a print head. <P>SOLUTION: The printer comprises a print head 76 in which LEDs 77R<SB>1</SB>, 77B<SB>1</SB>, 77G<SB>1</SB>and LEDs 77R<SB>2</SB>, 77B<SB>2</SB>, 77G<SB>2</SB>are arranged in two rows with the first line L1 and the second line L2 being arranged at an interval of 3 line pitch. A print medium 80 is fed by a 2 line pitch. During a process where the print head 76 moves in the main scanning direction (Xb direction), odd lines are irradiated with light by the LEDs 77R<SB>1</SB>, 77B<SB>1</SB>, 77G<SB>1</SB>in the first line L1 and, at the sametime, even lines are irradiated with light by the LEDs 77R<SB>2</SB>, 77B<SB>2</SB>, 77G<SB>2</SB>. During a process where the print head 76 finishes movement in the main scanning direction (Xb direction) and returns back to the sub-scanning direction (Xa direction), the print medium 80 is fed by 2 line pitch (2P) in the forward feeding direction (Y direction).
