PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer for a block material selectively available either for forming both vertical joint and lateral joint or for forming only the lateral joint, so as not to receive constraint depending on a kind or a form of the block material. SOLUTION: For forming the block materials 7 to be stacked so that the interval between the vertical joint 8 and the lateral joint 10 is constant, a plurality of vertical joint forming pieces 3 and lateral joint forming pieces 4 are formed integrally with a plate body 2. The vertical joint forming pieces 3 are positioned on one straight line and bendably formed in an intermediate part of the plate body 2 while the pieces 3 and the plate body 2 are set flat and both widths are set the same. The lateral joint forming pieces 4 are formed on the plate body 2 in both side regions of the vertical joint forming pieces 3, in a standing state on the same surface side at the same height.
